if i wake myself up from snoring does that mean i have sleep apnea?

Possibly: Snoring is a warning sign that sleep apnea may be present. Other complaints include awakening gasping/choking for air, dry mouth/sore throat, urinating multiple times at nights, morning headaches, unrefreshing sleep, cognative impairment and excessive daytime somnolence. Talk to your doctor about any of these symptoms. A sleep study would have to be done to confirmt he diagnosis.

Snore: Not necessarily. Could be result of fatty tissue gathering in/around your throat, obstruction in nasal passages, effect of alcohol/drugs relaxing the throat muscles, tongue dropping to the back from sleeping on your back, or obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep study would be helpful.

Maybe: Snoring doesn't always mean someone has sleep apnea, but it may be a sign of it. Do you have any pauses in breathing or gasping following those pauses? You may also have daytime sleepiness or wake up the morning not feeling very well rested. It's best that you discuss those symptoms with your doctor and see if you need a sleep study to diagnose sleep apnea.

is this sleep apnea? my partner said that my breathing stopped or was slow in the middle of night, but i don't snore and i didn't wake up.

Yes: Sleep apnea is when you stop or have interrupted breathing during sleep.  Snoring is a sign or symptom of sleep apnea but not the cause.  Waking up is a result of the apnea but does not happen all of the time.

You may have: another problem other than sleep apnea. Get yourself to a sleep center and get a sleep study. Then they will know the problem and can fix it.

Mgt: It can occur, especially in the early post operative period. 
Were his tonsils also removed? There are many areas of the airway that can contribute to snoring. Usually a nasal steroid is prescribed to reduce nasal swelling.

doctor suspects i have sleep apnea. cause i snore once and wake up feeling without breath. he refered me for the test. my concern is will they notice if sleep apnea cause not every night happens approx 2 or 3 times a week?

: Sleep apnea is a pattern defect. Those affected by this issue have events every hour or so during sleep as their body moves through the different sleep stages. If you truly have treatable sleep apnea it will show up on a standard study. Affected people rarely fully awaken for most of their events.

for the past week i`ve been with sinus and like sleep apnea during night i snore once and wakes up breathless. past 2 days i have short of breath during day and my right ear is completely blocked nearly hears nothing. should i worry?

: Discuss with ENT or your physician. Nasal rinse may relieve nasal congestion. Note tonsillar swelling, which may contribute to your condition and take a photo of the back of your throat. You may need a sleep study if the symptoms persist when well  A course of antibiotics is indicated if you have a sinus infection or ear infection. Allergy testing recommended if not infected.

Possible association: Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders associated with group B streptococcal infection, or PANDAS,  appears to be a real association of the effects of antibodies produced against the strep bacteria.  Rheumatic heart disease occurs in children because of antibodies against strep which attack the heart, prevented with at least 10 days of antibiotics.  Be sure you take 10 days worth.

Good Question!: No, not always. However, those who snore loudly should be screened for sleep apnea with a detailed history and possibly a sleep study. Those who snore without sleep apnea do report that their sleep is better after treatment because their bed partner no longer has to kick, punch, pinch, etc while they are sleeping and everyone is happier after treatment :).
