Stop using the dye: It sounds like your body is telling you something! if you are having a reaction to a chemical, i would stop exposing yourself to such chemicals. The kind of reaction is important to note as well - some are on the skin but some can be more systemic. Some less chemically based hair coloring agents exist such as henna that might not cause a problem. Talk with your beautician.

This is different than a reaction to pollen or pets which cause immediate symptoms ( minutes to a few hours) called a type I reaction.  It appears in 24-96 hours.

A few suggestions: You're going to have to take the hit and buy an expensive shampoo and conditioner like avanti by aveda from the salon. Also, as awful as this may sound, wash your hair every other day. Do not blow-dry, curl, flat-iron, or heat your hair (maybe shower at night?). I'm glad you don't color your hair, because that really tears it apart! these are a lot of adjustments to make, but it will be worth it!

Probably not: Dear Juan94, I have good news! you are NOT going to die from this. Don't worry. You are probably having a reaction to the chemical. Even if ammonia free, dyes still have many other stuff.  Try to clean the area with cold water.  It it worsens, you might need to you some medication but since it is the face, we need to be careful. Challenging: Contact dermatitis to p-phenylene diamine is one of the most common allergies to hair dye.  Symptoms are usually a red itchy rash that persists sometimes up to a month.  Avoidance is the most effective treatment, allergy patch testing can confirm.  Sometimes, treatment can require oral prednisone, but this has potential side effects. Some can get allergy to preservatives in topical corticosteroids
