It depends: The removal of the patella called patellectomy is a rare operation and has consequences for walking and other activities.  Removal of the patella deceases the knees ability to function including affecting walking distance and speed.  It also makes kneeling and stairs more difficult.  Even with aggressive rehabilitation there is persistent weakness of the quadriceps mechanism that is permanent.

i'm having a patella dislocation. it's been two weeks now and in pain. when can i start my therapy sessions as i'm not able to walk at all?

Let me explain: After dislocated patella, usually we apply brace on the leg to let  the soft tissue injury heal, the leg  have to be straight in the brace. Usually we allow partial to full weight bearing as tolerated. You could your pt in the brace and continue on .

Fracture disability: Yes, it is possible. When there is a nondisplaced fracture, there may be pain, but walking can be tolerated often with a limp. So it's important to have any fracture or potential fracture evaluated.

i have had my right leg sprained a month ago and now iam able to walk but i still got a bump on outer angle l ankle. if i walk it is getting more red?

Residual swelling: Sometimes because of the soft tissue trauma there is residual swelling left over (the damaged tissues separate easier &amp; retain fluid).Thus you may require additional wrapping &amp;/or leg elevation for resolution of this edema. I would recommend you see a Podiatrist or Sports Medicine MD.They may recommend additional Physical Therapy for ankle proprioception exercising &amp; edema massage. Keep us posted.

hi! i just recently sprained my ankle while running about 12 days ago... i am able to walk on it while limping and i still have very bad brusing and swelling. the brusing comes all the way up my leg. i'm a nurse and need to go back to work. i'm also a run

See a doctor: Swollen and bruised ankle is usually due to a bad sprain or fracture. You need to be seen by a doctor and have xrays. Also the injured ankle needs to be rested to let it heal.

Knee pain: It is not clear why you are having complications from your surgery.  Followup with your orthopedic surgeon, get an MRI if necessary and seek out a second opinion.

See a doctor: Walking up & down requires bending of the knee. It may indicate damage to the cartilage of the patella or the patellar tendon. You need evaluation by a doctor who may or may not order an xray or mri.

my leg muscles are sore everywhere due to exercise, i was able to walk without complaining, i was able to fold my legs and sit down on the floor too . but i am worried what if i have a growth plate injury or is it just the sore muscles pls tell?

: I do not feel you injured a growth plate. You describe what might be you over exercised . You should seek a structured program to learn the correct methods of exercise. Stretching is also important in any program. This information might be available on the internet. If you can afford an instructor program that would be my recommendation

Leg pain: It is hard to make a diagnosis without proper history or examination. However, from your description this may need urgent attention. A deep venous thrombosis or clot inter calf veins can be a serious and sometimes fatal condition.  Check with your doctor immediately for proper diagnosis and care. Hope you feel well soon.

yesturday i fell on ice, and i fell hard on my right knee and scraped it. i'm able to walk and carry my weight but my leg feels weak. is that okay?

Maybe: Falling hard on your knee may have caused filamentous damage or patella damage. Did the fall break the skin? If that occurred did you clean the area well to avoid infection. You need to see your physician at the first opportunity.
