Your IBS needs to: Be treated.  A gastroenterologist can help.  Also, watch your diet.  Food allergies can play a part.  Grains and dairy are at the top of the list.  Elaine gottshall's "breaking the vicious cycle" book may also be helpful.  Peace and good health.

can excessive alcohol cause crohns, ibs, or ibd? turned 21 3 weeks ago, went crazy the first night. drank 2-3 drinks for 3 nights after and then stopped. still have a loss of appetite and loss of energy?

had diarrhea before starting1 pill of bentyl/day for ibs for past 3 days. very queasy, significant loss of appetite. mild abdominal pain, is this ok?

Common side effects: Bentyl (dicyclomine) slows down the gut, which is why it can help with diarrhea. But if the gut's too slow, it can cause food to sit in the stomach too long, causing poor appetite and nausea. It also makes it harder for gas and stool to pass, resulting in pain. The dose may need to be lowered, or the drug changed to something else. Often side effects improve with time, but discuss with your doctor.

This sounds like IBS: While the history suggests ibs other conditions such as celiac disease should be ruled out. Nausea can be part any parcel of functional dyspepsia which we see commonly in adolescents especially in the morning.

Please see below: Sometime stress in ibs causes high gastric acid and appetite will be low. If you think this is the case, you might want to try Prilosec otc early morning for a month. If you don't feel any better, you want to see a physician.

i have ibs and noticed it is hard for me to put on weight and to gain an appetite even if i workout more or do more activities. is there a medicine that exists that helps increase appetite?
