No: But it may cause colitis-like protracted symptoms that may associate malabsorption. Sometimes the original condition is misdiagnosed as gastroenteritis, but it is the onset of an inflammatory bowel disease: Crohn' s for example.

Gerd: Gastroenteritis can be followed by irritable bowel syndrome which may or may not eventually resolve. It shouldn't  cause new onset of chronic gerd as the latter is due to structural or functional abnormality of the valve between the esophagus and stomach. You may have some temporary  reflux during the acute phase of gastritis however.

Gastritis: with residual GERD may be the issue;however, you should be taking some PPI medication to suppress acid production,get checked for GERD and H.pylori bacteria.

Many causes: Abdominal bloating can have many causes including ibs, celiac, small bowel bacterial overgrowth, c. Difficile or other pathogen, lactose intolerance, gallstones, ovarian cancer, pancreatic problems, an obstructive problem w/ the colon, inflammation anywhere in the abdomen or urinary tract leading to an ileus(slow down in the contractility of the colon), etc..Go back to ur doc for a more thorough evaluation.

i have abdominal pain, and i have the urge for bowel movements usually after a meal or when i am in public. i also get full on small meals. is it ibs or stomach flu, the symptoms have been only once 2 months ago and now again for 5 days straight?

: It is most likely an episodic problem, rather than IBS. By definition, IBS is a long-term condition which affects the function of the bowels. It does not necessarily come and go with normal periods in between. Try increasing fiber in your diet initially. If your symptoms remain persistent, however, you should see your doctor.

Fluid: Stay well hydrated, control nausea and get some bed rest until symptoms have improved.  This seldom lasts more than a day or two, and if it stays longer see your doctor.  Drink plenty of fluids and if you cannot keep things down - see your doctor.
