Don't recommend: I would highly recommend that if your teeth are healthy enough for veneers that you do not get your teeth removed and replaced with dentures.  Do everything you can to perhaps go through orthodontics to straighten you teeth.  Once you remove your teeth, they are gone forever.

Crown/bridge/denture: If the tooth is still savagible, you need a crown.  If the tooth is not savagible or you are talking about a missing teeth.  Implant supported crown, bridge and partial dentures are your options.  First 2 are fixed which means it will stay in your mouth all the time.  Partial denture is removable which means it can be put in and taken out.

: If you are so unhappy tell him you will are thinking of going somewhere else. Did he explain to you why teeth are not straight? could be your bite. Find out why, if a good reason than except it, or go elsewhere.

Not sure if you are having a fixed or removable prosthetic fabricated. Please discuss your concerns with your dentist and have your questions answered so that there are no surprises.

Maybe: Visit a dentist for some mouth molds and a diagnostic waxup so you can see what the results would be.  If teeth are protrusive or misaligned, some tooth structure can be removed to improve final result.

Yes: The traditional braces with the bands, brackets and wires are a good,  well-controlled technique.  However, some newer treatment styles like invisalign may also be used.  These plastic forms direct the teeth to position and are replaced every two to three weeks until the teeth are aligned.  Your dentist can give several options.  This is just one.

All depends: There are cosmetic dentistry alternatives to orthodontic treatment to achieve a straight looking smile. However, without tooth movement, the teeth remain where they are and "additions" to existing tooth structure are used to make them appear straight, but the unerlying natural tooth structure is still crooked.
