my mouth is coated with a furry texture. been like that for over a year.  my dr first suggested i use andolex mouth wash.  then went on to flagyl, nystacid oral suspension and daktarin gel.  this year, tried canesten troche lozengers. nothing helps?

Furry coating: Please see a Dentist, preferably a specialist in Oral Medicine, for evaluation and treatment.  Has anyone done a swab/test for oral flora balance?  You may have fungal overgrowth because of antibiotic suppression of normal bacteria.

: You will be fine. Use as much mouthwash as you desire. First of all, the disulfiram reaction, or negative reaction caused by alcohol in those taking metronidazole does not apply to the vaginal gel.

generic ok: Most patients don't notice significant change from generic Metronidazole vs flagyl. Both can cause reaction with alcohol and give a metallic taste in your mouth.

: Around 24 hours. Why do you ask? (If you've been told to avoid alcohol, don't worry about it. Turns out that there is no interaction between alcohol and metronidazole. If you're taking metronidazole, you can drink in moderation whenever you want.)

OK any time: You could've been drinking alcohol (in moderation) all along. The old story about metronidazole was disproved long ago. For sure you can safely drink 3 days after the last dose.

my dr wrote a prescription for magic mouthwash, it is not helping my strepthroat at all. can i take another dose and gargle..so much pain..cant sleep or eat?

Magic swizel: Yes you csn . However this would only aliviate the discomfort. Were you prescripted an antibiotic as well?
