Perhaps: Fluconazole (diflucan) may help to eradicate candida (yeast) from your vagina, but if your sexual partner was not treated with an antifungal cream on his penis it is possible that this will recolonize you with the same organism you just treated.  This phenomenon has been shown to be one potential source of reinfection.

is it possible to get a yeast infection from having unprotected sex? and it there a way to treat a yeast infection without actually going to the doctor and getting the pill ( fluconazole)? ive heard about monistat but how affective is it?

Yes: I would consider the use of monistat.  you might consider a douche with vinegar and water.

Diflucan (fluconazole) : one dose for diflucan (fluconazole) is usually sufficient. If not eradicated after 2doses there is a resistant strain or wrong diagnosis. Results are usually seen within 3 days!

Recurrent yeast: I doubt this had anything to do with it. I suspect, however, that yeast 'likes you' for some reason - and I would try to find out 'why'. For example - have you been checked for diabetes? How about recent antibiotics? You should have a complete check up to identify 'why' this occurred. To me, it means something and I would want to find out. Hope you recover soon.

Check the diagnosis: It usually takes 2-3 days for yeast symptoms to improve after taking fluconazole. However, it's unusual for yeast to recur so soon, and sex usually doesn't trigger yeast. So maybe the diagnosis isn't correct. Check back with the doctor or clinic where you were diagnosed. Good luck!

Maybe: You should see your doctor. You can get a yeast infection, but it should clear up with medication such as diflucan, (fluconazole) but you may have a medical problem (e.g. Diabetes) that may prevent a rapid recovery.

Wait a few days: Fluconazole works very well for yeast infections but, remember, the area is very irritated from the infection itself.  Although the yeast may be dead, the vaginal area needs a few days to heal before everything is back to normal.

i am taking antibiotics for 10 days and i took a diflucan the first day with my antibiotics. do i take my second pill at the end to prevent a yeast infection or in 7 days?

: It really shouldn’t make too much difference if you take the Diflucan  dose at day 7 or 10 but I would advise taking it at the end of the antibiotic course and then monitoring for symptoms of a yeast infection. If symptoms develop, then call your doctor for treatment. Good luck to you!
