Not advisable: If Metformin is causing that much symptoms to you, you might need to check with your doctor to consider changing it.
Long term use of Immodium has its side effects on the colon and I would not advise you to do so

Colonoscopy: with biopsies plus stool culture and stool analysis for ova and parasites. Needs full workup for IBS/ulcerative colitis and Chron's.

: You can take small dose as needed for a day or two but daily use with regular dose of imodium is not recommended due to risk of cardiac arrhythmia.

Diarrhea: Diarrhea has multiple possibilities. Firs explore your diet. You may be lactose intolerant, have a gluten allergy, or possibly an inflammatory process. Irritable bowel is the LAST diagnosis you want to get to. See your doctor as you are doing, have your stool checked for infectious agents, such as parasites, viruses, bacteria. You may need to have a colonoscopy to look at the lining.

Get problem fixed: Generally, you should not take Imodium (loperamide) ad daily, forever, as you most likely have some obvious issues with diarrhea.  You need to get the underlying cause of your diarrhea diagnosed, so that the true treatment of curing and treating your diarrhea can occur.   Best wishes.

No issue: These work on different parts of the GI tract and you might need the effect of both.  You can take them together as they do not cross react and are effective for their indications.

Yes: It is OK to take pepto and immodium together. The immodium if taken first, might slow down the transit of pepto throughout your system. If the cause of your symptoms are related to diarrhea, it might be a good idea to stay hydrated, and let it flush through the system, if it persists see your doctor.

Giardia:  Because you don't know your diagnosis, I would try to hold off on Immodium because it is not recommended for all GI infections.
