i started getting urinary retention a couple of days ago. will i be back to normal by next week?

Urinary retention: What medications/supplements are you taking? Some have the side effect of causing difficulty urinating. Do you have signs/symptoms of a uti—burning, frequency, blood? Best to see your pcp or a urologist for evaluation & treatment. Be sure to take list  of all meds & supplements with you.

i have been on atovaquone for  7 month and started to get urinary retention 4 months ago. prostate and kidneys normal. is there any correlation?

I am not aware of : Atovaquone by itself or in combination with proguanil as Malarone (atovaquone and proguanil) to be associated with urinary retention.

had cauda equina, nerve pressed, did surgery but still got urinary retention, week before did mri which was fine.why i am suffering having normal blader?

Inflammation: The surgery likely caused some inflammation to surrounding nerves (expected and to some degree unavoidable).  It should improve if that is all it is; i would talk to your neurosurgeon about appropriate timing of improvement.

Zyrtec (cetirizine): Zyrtec (cetirizine) can cause urinary retention.Stop tsking it for a few days and your back and bladder pain will disappear.

Drink what?: Alcohol inhibits antidiuretic hormone, which would cause you to urinate even more. 

If you have bladder problems, seek the help of a urologist.

Cancer,AM uri retent: There are many but they should be picked up with US. Discuss with your Dr who knows you best.  See an OBGYN as well.

1+ blood in urine: Could be but you need to find out why as it is a sign of something  bad going on. What does your Dr. say?. Acute urinary retention at your age is very unusual. What was the cause?

Thoughcommon in aging males, AUR not common in young, otherwise healthy males. In this age group, prostatitis, fecal impaction, and drugs (alcohol, narcotics, recreational, prescription, or OTC decongestants/antihistamines) most common causes

Hydronephrosis: Tamsulosin is an alpha blocker that's often used to treat benign prostate hyperplasia, as it tends to relax prostate capsule. 5 alpha reductase inhibitors (5ARIs) such as finasteride &amp; dutasteride are used to shrink prostate over 6mo. Inadequately treated BPH can lead to urinary retention and then to hydronephrosis whereby pressure backs up into kidneys. Best to discuss your concerns w/your doc.
