Diagnosis?:  As you know, there is potential for Zika virus infection in Jamaica. Symptoms of Zika Virus only occur in about 20% of people and include fever, joint pain, conjunctivitis (red eyes) &amp; a red/pink bumpy rash (maculopapular). Headache, pain behind eye, vomiting &amp; muscle pain can occur. Sx' last a few days to a week. You may have many types of viruses. Can't make a diagnosis with the available info.

You: Have what sounds like a viral upper respiratory tract infection. Drink plenty of fluids, acetaminophen for fever or pain relief, and if you feel worse or don't improve in two weeks, check in with your doctor.

Probably at home: Most pink eye is due to a virus and sometimes the same virus infects the nose and throat.  Antibiotics are not helpful for virus infections.  If the vision remains good and the pain is just discomfort but not severe you can wait a week for this to get better by itself with the help of your immune system.  Keep it clean and treat your strep throat if that was diagnosed by a doctor.

Allergy/blepharitis: This could be blepharitis (lid inflammation), infection, eczema or allergy. Treat blepharitis with warm compresses to eyelids x 10 min 2x/d ; baby shampoo eyelid scrubs. If allergy, stop any new eye creams, cleansers, make up, drops ; take oral antihistamine (claratin/benadryl). See your eye doctor to rule out infection. They may prescribe antibiotics or steroid cream depending on diagnosis.

every time i relapse on meth during the first 2-6 days they turn fire engine red, have severe irritation and discharge. then after 6 days or more of continual use my eyes clear out and feel fine. if i even stop for 1 or 2 days it starts all over?
