Swollen eye: Swelling in or around eye can be due to the following [most common to least]:  allergy [most likely in your case]; age issue (blepharoptosis, dermatochalasis), genetic variations; blocked meibomian gland (sty, chalazion); too much salt in diet; heart or kidney problem;  mass or tumor). See an eyemd if swelling does not improve with cold artificial tears or ice packs.

i got dish detergent in my eye and it was swollen for two days. completely rinsed but now redness and a bruised feeling?

Vision ok?: If your vision is not impaired and you are not having a lot of pain then this is probably just some inflammation and will resolve in a week or so. Use natural tears to help flush it out several times a day. If you have pain, vision problems or if it is not resolving, see an eye doctor.

Irritation: from removed eye lash may continue for awhile. If persist  go to an Urgent are and have the eye checked.

Could be many things: See your eye doctor urgently! If it's swollen for no reason that's not normal. You want to make sure there is no cellulitis developing or worse. Just because there's no itching or pain means it's not an allergy response, but doesn't exclude other causes. Don't delay! We only have 2 eyes. Want to make sure her intraocular pressure is safe too. She needs an eye exam!

Yes: Given the timing of the symptoms, most likely it is a stye and not a chalazion.  Continue using wash compresses as much as possible.  It the pain or swelling worsens, then a topical or oral antibiotic may be required.

Serious!: The location of this infection is the real problem. Infections in the region of the nose, forehead and upper lip can spread quickly and even track back to the brain. You may need IV antibiotics. Please return to your doctor or hospital right away.

Cold pack: After placeing ice pack on your eyes, a few drops of visene should take some of the redness away.

Stye: Most of the time applying warm compresses will eventually clear up this type of eyelid infection. If not improved, consult an ophthalmologist for the treatment.

It : It may be a stye, because there are glands near that 'hole' which is the entrance to your tear drain system. Or it may be an infection of the lacrimal (tear drainage) system. Hot compresses will help both, but if it gets worse in the next 24-48 hours, you should see an ophthalmologist for treatment. Antibiotic drops with a little steroid mixed in works well for both of these problems.

If medical treatment does not work, in-office minor procedures can be done for both problems.

woke up with outside corner of left eye feeling very sore and a little swollen. there is no redness at all. had no injury at all. what could this be?

Chalazion: This is caused by a blocked excretory duct in a gland, but this gland does not know its duct is blocked so it continues to produce its secretions causing pain and a lump on the lid.  Use warm moist compresses 10 min 4 x day.
