Medicaid/Illinois: Call State of Illinois Insurance Department or go to a University Hospital and ask at the Dept of Medicine. In NY they restrict the number of docs who can write scripts for suboxone. And most of all try to get your life together!

Detox help: Look on your state's Department of Health website for low cost clinics near you, ask your pcp for substance abuse clinics/programs, do your own search, go to NA meetings and ask around. NA online also has resources: http://www.na.org/  Connect with others who know what you're going through. Stay with it and good luck.

: Unfortunately, Suboxone is a controlled medication and requires an in person visit for refill or initial prescription. It cannot be refilled or prescribed by any Telemedicine Dr either on HealthTap or other platforms.

i am traveling with husband while in school again and need a suboxone doctor who i can see virtually until we decide where we are going to relocate. i have thought about switching to methedone because of lack of insurance. can you help?

Hope so: Personally I woud not prescribe a controlled substance without seeing the patient in person (mostly retired). I would encourage you to stick with Suboxone if you can possibly afford it. Methadone is a nasty drug. Sub. does come generic for some relief in cost. The Suboxone website lists licensed doctors and their locations. Hopefully, one is near and will help.

Suboxone: In the usa Suboxone is mainly used to treat addiction issues. It requires a special certification and a special dea number. Most doctors perceive this as an open door to scrutiny by the dea.

The main reason: The 100 patient limit.  Also many doctors are doing this solely for the dollar signs and the reasonable one are at their treatment limits

To the covering Dr.: A doctor who has gone unavailable should have a covering doctor answer calls until he or she returns to the office. Otherwise, patients will not have a place to go to get controlled substances or other potentially abusable meds that are not (or should not be) prescribed nor refilled without an in-person exam. An urgent care or ER may or may not be able to give a temporary refill.
