If TMJ symptoms are relevant the dentist may treat you by making a nightguard that would separate your teeth, to lessen grinding if evident. Otherwise, you may be referred to your MD for an evaluation.

Either: The nerves that supply those areas also share a branch with the teeth. Phantom pain in the teeth can relate to the irritation/inflammation that comes with such a procedure.You might try some ibuprofen in the short term to see if it helps. Either doc could manage your discomfort.
