i feel like i'm choking on my saliva it feels like its dripping in the back of my throat. when it happens my mouth gets dry but i still feel the drip?

Post-nasal drip: You may have a condition termed "post-nasal drip"-which basically means secretions from your nasal cavity are running down your throat.  Sometimes this condition may respond to antihistamine medication such as cetirizine or loratadine.

Be seen: What you are describing medically would be called dysphagia, there are multiple causes.  Among the more common is chronic reflux disease leading to constrict ute of the esophagus.  Consider being seen.  Work up would likely include a swallowing study and an egd.

See a doctor: Unclear by history, but depending on where the lump is, it may be an enlarged thyroid (if at bottom of neck). Could be any number of things, possibly concerning in light of size of mass and firmness, especially if you smoke. If your neck was fused, a pressure sensation in the throat is very common, and you could have some fibrosis / scarring (small price to pay for healthier spine).

See your doctor: You should see a doctor right away.  There are many causes for sore throat and some require treatment with antibiotics.  This includes strep throat and more rare conditions such as an abscess beside a tonsil.  Other causes of sore throat are viruses including mononucleosis.   A doctor can determine what kind of treatment is needed.  You could also get dehydrated if you aren't able to swallow.

Multiple problems: Burping releases gas which enters the stomach during swallowing. Shortness of breath, choking sensation, neck pain and rapid heartbeat could be due to spasm of the esophagus and it could be associated with headache.  However, these symptoms could be due to other problems as well, such as high blood pressure.  All this merits a careful exam by ones doctor.

my son ate some fried chicken, and a small piece is lodged in the left part of the back of his throat. he is not choking. he can breathe, speak and swallow....there is no pain. what can we do to remedy this?

Chicken lodged: Due to the fact that this meat is not moving, he needs to be seen in the emergency department to prevent the obstruction of his airway should the meat begin to move. I would do this as soon as possible.

: Enlarged tonsils, pronounced epiglottis and other anatomic differences can provide enough space at the back of the throat to cause food trapping. Because of your history, make sure that you are eating slowly, chewing your food thoroughly and drinking enough fluids while you eat. Talk to your Dr at your next regular annual physical so they can inspect the back of your throat.

what can i do to keep the nasal drainage from going down the back of my throat and choking me and causing me to clear my throat and sniff causing soa?

Allergy: Although there are other treatments, the triad of treatment for allergic rhinitis and post nasal drip includes:  1.  Nasal saline  2.  Nasal steroid spray  3.  Antihistamine.  If symptoms persist an allergy skin test may be helpful for identification.
