had pe and dvt on the right side of my body. now have lumpy.bumps on right side. about 5 times larger than left side. nothings makes it go down. im scared and dr doesnt seem to know?

: More information is needed. Where are the lumps and bumps? Are they vein like or fleshy? PE is in the lung and not visible and DVTs usually in the legs/arms where they legs are usually /swollen enlarged but not bumpy ( unless superficial DVT). Could do an ultrasound/CT or MRI to evaluate the affected area. F/u/w/ MD or ER

Age not a factor: Age per se is not a factor  DVT occurs more.often in peiple with a family history of DVT people who are immobile those who.have surgery or trauma  pregnant women and women on OCPs

Yes: With adequate care. Identifying the risk factor for the DVT will help determine the duration of anticogulant treatment to prevent recurrence after acute treatment

DVT: Deep vein thrombosis often causes symptoms but at times does not.  Commonly they are in the calf muscle which can cause swelling and pain there. It depends on the location. In the brain, it can cause headaches, in the shoulder region, it can cause swelling of the arm. Around the kidney, it can cause bloody urine or flank pain.

can certain types of exercise aggravate an existing dvt? possibly cause another piece to break off and maybe result in a pe?

Dvt: It is a good idea to give it at least 3 weeks before resuming vigorous leg activity after a dvt. A case can be made for getting. A follow up ultrasound to see if the clot appears to be gone before such activity.

d-dimer has been elevated more than 10 times for over a year now. im only 24. its been as high as double the range. never a dvt or pe. cause?

The D Dimer test: is NON-SPECIFIC, That is to say the TEST ALONE without CLINICAL CORRELATION by your physician is of NO VALUE.  WHY are you having this test done???? That information is vital!

Uncommon/unlikely: The risk of DVT/PE depends on risk factors. Although young ages makes it unlikely if risk factors are present then the likelihood can be significantly increased.

D dimer: Different laboratories have their own reference levels of D dimer. Inflammation, malignancy, liver or heart disease may be the cause of chronic elevation. I'm curious as to why you had d dimer levels checked. Any signs of inflammatory problems, liver or heart disease? Perhaps your level has no clinical significance. Your physician can advise you best.
