i have been diagnosed with endometriosis and my doctor prescribed visanne but the side effects are beyond me, headache,weight gain,abdominal pain,mood swings,the list is endless.
is there any other medication or contraceptives recommended?

Surgery: The only way to definitively diagnose endometriosis is to have a surgery called laparoscopy. Other tests that can help can be a pelvic exam and ultrasound.

i have endometriosis.  my doctor has me on continuous dosage. for a week today i am cramping really bad and having spotting to light flow. is this ok?

Yes: If you are on continuous ocp's for more than a couple months without a menses you can have breakthrough bleeding.

Start with GYN: Pain in the pelvis can be due to gyn issues, bladder, muscles, or intestines. Since you have been diagnosed with endometriosis, start with your gynecologist to see what treatment options there are as well as try to determine if something else may be the cause.

Surgery: Is teh only way to diagnose endometriosis, its also often a good treatment. Symptoms of endometriosis and pcos are also very different.

my question is i had endometriosis and pelvic congestion syndrome with a full hysterectomy and the doctors were pushing me out that day do you normally stay overnight with a full hysterectomy i feel the doctors did not treat me right?

More &amp; more: hysterectomies are done as outpatients.  An article. study entitled "Feasibility and Safety of Outpatient Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy" concluded "Same-day discharge is a feasible and safe option for carefully selected patients who undergo an uncomplicated TLH, even in the presence of leiomyomas, severe adhesions, or endometriosis." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4354205/  &gt;&gt;

ive been having really bad abdominal hip pain.. my lower stomach doesent hurt though, just my hips. can it be endometriosis or is this unlikely?

Gynecologist: The hip discomfort may be referred from pelvic congestion or other pelvic disorders. Endometriosis can certainly be a cause of painful periods. Since you're not complaining of intestinal or primary hip joint discomfort, I recommend that you consult a gynecologist for evaluation.

i was diagnosed with endometriosis in january this year and i was advise to start birth control how do i relive the pain?

Several options: Depending on the severity of your illness, pain can be managed with pain medication, hormonal therapy (birth control) or even surgery.  Use of birth control is to stop the periods and decrease shedding of the uterine cells.  Once on bc, pain should improve. Talk to your doctor about other relief options.

Yes: Endometriosis is presence of endometrium outside of the uterus. When it is found on the ovaries, its considered endometrioma. Once they get larger, you'll need surgical procedure to remove them.  Smaller cysts and lesions can be managed with medications.

can a doctor do a laparoscopy with a spinal tap instead of putting me out for endometriosis?

Accepted Answer

Usually not: Laparoscopy done with abdomen inflated(distended)  to 30mm of hg(mercury), at that pressure need respiratory support ( mechanical ventilation) so spinal anesthesia is not a preferred method.
