i am a 71 year old male. i get a sharp pain down my side when my upper arm is pulled/jerked upward or outward. the pain is quite intense and fades over the following 2-3 minutes. i have had this for some time but now interferes with some exercises?

: If the sharp pain is felt in the side of the rib cage, rather than pain coming from muscles,ligaments or tendons attached to the shoulder, I suspect that that maneuver stretches the rib cage causing pinching of a muscle or nerve that runs between two ribs. If you can't pinpoint the cause of the very sharp pain, have an examination by your physician who should be able to diagnose the cause&amp; advise

i've had a sharp pain deep in my left shoulder for a while now. it comes and goes every now and then. it hurts when i lift up my left arm. what is it?

Sounds like muscle: If you can make pain occur or worsen by moving that body part, it is most likely a muscle or tendon issue.    If it is more in the shoulder joint, rotator cuff tendonitis is likely.  If you have no issues with your stomach or kidney, consider ibuprofen for a few days to relieve the inflammation in the muscle or tendon.

i've had sharp pain on my right lower arm for almost 6 days now. the pain comes and goes. when gone it feels normal. when pain starts it is very sharp?

Could be many things: Including tennis elbow carpal tunnel arthritis radiculopathy (pinched nerve) among others. Needs examination and possibly test.  See a doctor in person for this

a year ago i was diagnosed with bad posture. i have sever pain in left clavicle, left arm, and left upper back and shoulder blade. now all of a sudden everytime i swallow anything i have sharp pain in my upper/mid left side?

: Poor Posture might be due to contorted position one might take in various activates, for example on the computer, playing games or just watching TV. But more seriously structural damage, might be intrinsic like in Scoliosis, Rickets, Vitamin and Nutritional Deficiency Syndromes. A comprehensive evaluation by the PCP/Orthopedic/Gastroenterologist even Rheumatologist are indicated for starters.

had really bad muscle tension from anxiety. my anxiety is gone now but today i have a sharp pain in my upper arm, like im being poked with a needle?

More information: There are many possibilities for this situation.  If your muscular tension was in the same area, you may have injured the muscle.  This may be the result of an injured nerve.  Or, it may have nothing to do with the anxiety and muscle tension, but be of a different origin.  If it is painful you may need to consult your doctor.  If it is only annoying, monitor.

Arm pain: This discomfort may be due to an irritable nerve or muscle in the upper arm, but could also be caused,though less likely, by nerve impingement from a spur or bulging disc in the area of a neck vertebra. If symptoms become more troublesome, see your physician or a neurologist for evaluation.

Need to be examined: since you had an old injury, there are several possibilities.  Rather than guessing, which is all anyone can do online, please go see a doctor - preferably the same doctor who helped you with the broken arm 2 years ago.

iam twenty years old had a picc line in right arm the eighth removed the ninth i get shooting sharp pain off and on since then and sometimes hand hurt?

May be blood clot: Those symptoms could be from a blood clot, which is a risk with any picc line placed in an arm. I would get that checked out with an ultrasound. It is important, because clots in arms can go to the lungs, which can be dangerous.

Need exam: There are a group of lymph nodes deep in your armpits that may be irritated .Also , the nerves for the arm travel near the armpit.An exam is needed to figure what is wrong.Go to your doctor.

sometimes i get a sharp pain in my heart.  it comes and goes.  sometimes my left arm feels wired, could it be my anxiety or should i get checked?

Probably anxiety: If you have a sharp pain in your chest area and last second or so it is not angina. By definition angina is a pressure type chest psin that last 5 to 10 min occurs with exertion and improves at rest of nitroglycerin. Sometimes rediates to the jaw and arm. Given you age and atypical nature it is unikely that this is heart. Nontheless i advise you to see your doctor for a check-up.
