Not much: Tretinoin is much more effective. If you have significant acne, oral spironolactone + tretinoin [adapalene] is best. Do you take any meds? Birth control of any kind? Normal menses?

my skin broke out with pimples, i thought its rash so i got allegex cream but it didnt help. for the month i have be taking zinplex tablets and washing my face with benzac ac 5 wash or hypodermmd and apply benzac gel. but it worse what can i do?

Acne: Things to consider:  Do not rub skin, careful with bike helmets, backpacks or tight collars, decrease exposure to pollutants and humidity, no squeezing or picking at blemishes, do not scrub skin hard.  Given you have been using astringents, and still having problems talk to your provider use of a topical or oral antibiotic may help.

Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'.

If typical acne...: Otc benzoyl peroxide is a good treatment for mild acne. It kills p. Acnes, the bacteria involved in the formation of acne. It works well in combination with other treatments, such as antibiotic gels. Any cream may have irritating side effects in some unlucky people, and/or lead to uneven skin tones in darker-skinned people. One can start with every-other-day use and increase if no skin irritation.

Right: You can get the cream and not the gel and get the lowest percentage and apply it only once every 2 or 3 days.  You can also alternate with benzoyl peroxide 5%. After 6 weeks 80% report good signs of improvement in their acne.

: Emotional or physical stress (lack of sleep, weight loss/gain, increased exercise, illness) as well as hormone fluctuations can all cause outbreaks in Acne and pimples. When acne heals, it may leave a brown area of slight scarring. This will go away with time.

No: Try exfoliating with a facial skin cleanser and get hydro quinine bleaching cream as well as Retin-A cream from your dermatologist to even skin time. Also be careful of sun exposure without sunscreen on.

my nose is extremely red and sore. i wake you every morning and there are white head pimples all over it. i have to wear mask 12 hours a day. started after cleansing using cerevea putting mipuricin ointment on it and now i am using differin gel?

: The redness and soreness may be due to constant manipulation, which you probably could limit to enhance healing. A cooling mask may be helpful and dab more when cleansing. You do not need mupurocin ointment in this situation, because it is an antibiotic for MRSA.

Yes. : You can use that regimen. With tretinoin make sure to use sunscreens. Best to see a dermatologist first though.

Get treated now, man: Nowadays all acne is manageable and it's unfortunate that you've been through years with the disease and gotten scars. Topical benzoyl peroxide, retinoic acid, and/or Clindamycin are for starters, and you are likely to need an antibiotic such as tetracycline 500 2x/day; if you're not clear soon, consider Accutane for your severe disease. Dermatologist can hide scars when you are cleared up.
