my 8th mnt daughter has skin rashes on head,elbows,knee,bumps,cheeks,neck,arm.her dad has psoriasis..cud it be d same n is it serious?using cetaphil.

Itchy?: At this young age, I would be more suspicious of eczema (atopic dermatitis) which may be linked to food allergies as well as airborne allergens.  If these rash itch, then eczema is more likely.  If you are using Cetaphil lotion, be sure to use it regularly and apply it within 3 mins after bathing.  Talk to your pediatrician.  A discussion of eczema can be found elsewhere.

i have a rash on my elbow that has been there for 3 years and is now expanding. it is red, raised and in a circle shape with normal skin on the inside. it has been treated as ringworm and psoriasis that hasnt worked. not itchy, painful, flakey ?

Dr. can look at rash: Rashes are hard to describe in words. A doctor has to look at a rash (video may suffice) to see what it might be. Very unusual rashes might need a skin biopsy. For common non-infected rashes such as eczema, mild reactions to plants or chemicals, excessive dryness, or little itchy bumps, some people try hydrocortisone 1% cream for 1 week until the rash can be examined by a doctor.

Skin biobsy ,Flake: There are no lab tests or blood tests available to confirm or deny the presence of psoriasis.
Instead, a doctor must examine the skin and nails closely, sometimes analyzing dry skin under a microscope.Your doctor may take a small sample of skin (biopsy) that's examined under a microscope to determine the exact type of psoriasis and to rule out other disorders.

Psoriasis: Psoriasis on the elbow is usually a thickened, silvery scaled plaque that may have a reddish base.  Blotchy rashes are not usually psoriasis.

Possibly: The rash and cough may not be related. You should see a dermatologist for evaluation, possible biopsy to rule out psoriasis, and advice about treatment.

Psoriasis Flare: There are a number of medications that can exacerbate psoriasis: lithium, beta blockers, corticosteroids, antimalarials, alcohol, nsaids, ace inhibitors, gold salts and interferon.

Psoriasis in teens: Try an otc moisturizer cream with 1% Hydrocortisone cream 2x/day.  If no improvement see your doctor.

Luckily, : Luckily, there are several really effective therapies for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.   Sometimes, i inject kenalog into the elbows and knees of my patients with psoriasisi. Psoriatic arthritis!: There is some correlation between cutaneous activity of psoriasis and the severity and/or lieklyhood of arthritis in general.  Sacroliitis is a major feature of some types of psoriatic arthritis!  see someone in rheumatology to best manage your problem!
