reacuring boils of some sort on my left inner thigh. start as a soft bump then get hard and red/purple. when they bust they seem to just  bleed.

Boil: Recurring boils in the groin can be a condition that need treatment.  A few months of an oral or topical antibiotic can really help.  Until you get in to see your doctor, start using an antibacterial soap to bathe with.

Abscess: This could be now an abscess and might need to be opened under local anesthesia. Have it looked at by your primary care physician for evaluation and treatment.

Residual infection: The hard, leathery, often darkened skin @ the site of a boil is residual inflammation from the skin infection. The skin should soften over time, but cd leave a scar. I wd say at this point, it's normal. But watch for fevers, more drainage, or worsening symptoms that may mean the infection (boil) is coming back. Also get checked for MRSA &amp; diabetes (which predispose to boils) if this is not 1st one

my 14 mo. old has 4 small boils on arm and legs they look like spider bites but i know they arent. how can doc check for msra? 102 fever 1 week ago.

Assume they are: I seldom went to the added expense of sending a sample to the lab. The frequency of MRSA in small to large abscesses exceeds 60-70% in outpatients. It is not the new bogeyman,although you wouldn't know it from all the news stories. There are multiple meds that easily kill the germ.Big ones often need to be drained to heal. Fever a week ago is probably unrelated.

Fire ant bites: Most likely fire ant bites, they will go away without treatment in several days.  The white center is not an indication of infection, so it is best not to break the blister.  Just put a bandage over them to keep your little one from scratching.  An over the counter antihistamine like Diphenhydramine (benadryl) will likely help the itching along with a cool compress.

: You need to have this looked at since something that is red and warm to touch could be infected. If there is an infection, it may need antibiotics. There is no way to tell without examining the area. So, see a doctor for evaluation and treatment. Good luck to you!

See doctor: If a warm compress is not working after 3-4 days, then you need to see a doctor so that they can lance and drain the infection. Then, you'll get antibiotics to take. Without breaking the walls surrounding the infection, the antibiotics may not be able to penetrate through. You'll still do warm compresses to improve blood flow to the area.

Needs biopsy: A staph boil or abscess usually soft, hot, tender so does not sound like a typical bacterial infection. Since it's hard with no fluctuance, I suggest Derm evaluation for biopsy

That sounds like a: Possible infection. If one of your legs has become hot, red & swollen you need to have this evaluated.  You could have cellulitis.
