Could be: deep vein thrombophlebitis, which could lead to pulmonary embolism, so you should consult with your doctor again.  Especially if you have associated swelling.

i am 7 days removed from a partial tear of my left rectus femoris. i would like to know can i do some light lap lane swimming? little swelling, only pain when bearing alot of weight. already feeling the right leg get weaker and want to move/be active?

: You can do as much as you are able. Listen to your body. If there is sharp pain, then back off a bit. Some mild soreness afterward is fine.

Get examined!: Your symptoms suggest patellofemoral( kneecap) pain. Your 'cyst' may be causing the pain in the back of your knee ( popliteal/ Bakers' cyst ).Not sure if your 'partial' ACL injury is causing symptoms or not without a thorough examination( it can cause cysts in the knee joint occasssionally.) i tore my hamstring tendon at its origin in january, a low grade tear according to the mri from last week. its still painful, there is tissue inflammation present, the lower buttock is swollen. why hasnt it healed? will i need surgery?

: You need to see you primary care doctor for a discussion of next steps whether that is a physical therapy or an orthopedics referral.

Variable: There really is no way to clearly answer this.  A torn hamstring can occur typically during athletic activity, mostly sprinting.  And if you do suffer one, it can take some time to heal, not unusual for 3-6 mo till it feels normal again.

Accepted Answer

: When a muscle tears, it also tears connective tissue, nerves and lymphatic tissue. As the muscle heals, scar tissue binds the area and then over time, slowly softens. Nerves can take longer to heal and may continue to send pain signals during this time. Make sure not to reinjure the area, as scar tissue is not as strong as the original connections. Use antiinflammatories to help with pain.

Yes: it would be tender, bruised and you would probably feel a knot whew the tendon has balled up.

Let me explain: Grade 2 the muscle still one piece but in grade three there will be a gap in the muscle.

: You are learning how difficult hamstring injuries can be to rehabilitate  You need to follow a structured program. You should see a physical therapist for a long program to rehabilitate this injury. Ice / heat stretching and strengthening
