Best to postpone : Although in most cases it would be ok, if you are having the colonoscopy done for screening purposes and you have enough lead time to reschedule it, i would do so. Sedation in the setting of an upper respiratory tract infection can be tricky.

Depends on severity: Depends on severity: if very bad with hacking cough or fever, reschedule. If at end of cold or minimal symptoms, it is ok to proceed: check with MD's office if still not sure.

Discuss with your MD: Some physicians may decide to postpone a colonoscopy (especially elective, screening ones) if you have a cold.  This is usually just for your protection because of the sedation issues that can arise when someone has cough, nasal congestion, etc with a cold.

Cold: Best way to avoid cold is to avoid using same hand towels and glasses as person who is ill.  Also get plenty of fluids and rest.  Others you may be exposed to and not know it that they may be ill.  therefore, avoid people who are outwardly ill.

Cold Symptoms: Hi. It is important to call the doctor who is doing the procedure so she is aware of your recent symptoms and how you are feeling currently. Between your physician and you - the decision can be made if the procedure should be delayed.
