Infection: Shower or pool water - probably nothing, maybe infection.  River, lake, ocean - definitely infection.

NO: Do not put any chemical in your ear with a perforated drum. Many chemicals are ototoxic and may lead to permanent hearing lost and/or vertigo. See an ENT doctor.

Ear pain: You should have that seen. You caould have ruptured your ear drum and that should be looked at.  Do not put qtips in your ear since they can damage either your ear canal or your ear drum.

Sensation of fluid: You should see your primary care doctor first. You can't treat something if you have no idea what it is ?

Avoid water in ear: A hole in an ear drum (perforated tympanic membrane) will normally heal on its own.  It is very important to not allow water to get into an ear with a perforated eardrum.  You should wear an ear plug (or cotton coated with vaseline) in your ear with the perforated TM whenever you shower, bath, wash your hair, or go swimming.  Ask your doctor to look at your ear and let you know when it is healed.

i have a cold and i was flying. on landing, my ears had a sharp and now i can't hear and there is still some pain. it sounds like water behind eardrum?

Barotrauma: Barotrauma from eustachian tube dysfunction from cold and changes in air pressure when flying. A few tips: chew gum, inhale, and then gently exhale while holding the nostrils closed and the mouth shut; suck on candy, yawn.
If no relief, try antihistamines and decongestants by mouth.
If still no relief, see ENT doc.

i have severe ear pain and my ear seems to be oozing some liquid. i had a damaged eardrum previously and water went in whilst showering?

Antibiotics required: You should probably see a local doctor for evaluation, so you could be on antibiotics.

if it feels/sounds like there's some wax pushed up against my ear drum, is it okay to get a syringe and gently try to flush it out with water?

Not suggested: Just make an appointment with an ENT to safely remove the wax if there. May be something else?

Safety: Please do not do anything other than seeing an Ear specialist as soon as possible.
I did not enjoy a broken ear drum while in flight!
