Wait a few days: The mouth heals pretty quickly so i think about three days should do it. You want to give your mouth the best chance to heal by avooding foods and drink that are hot, spicy or acidic for a while.

See dentist: Have it removed because it will interfere with healing. Continue to rinse and try. All the best.

TLC: You don't want to irritate the extraction site al all. Soft foods don't take much chewing force and tend to allow the wound to heal more quickly.

Immediately.: As long a no surgery other than vaginal repair was done, there is no reason you can't resume a normal diet after you deliver.

It may vary: The answer may depend upon how recent the extraction was performed, what type of food particle is in the extraction site, and how long it has been there.  With a recent extraction site you can try gently rinsing and/or brushing with a soft toothbrush or you can return to your dentist/surgeon who can either remove it for you or provide you with syringe to irrigate (flush) out the site.

Do you want pain?: Spicy foods irritate healing tissue and keep them from properly heal.  Don't interfere with the healing process.

Accepted Answer

Usually 24 hours: This depends upon how 'hot' you like your food.  You can definitely warm up your food but don't eat it steaming hot.  Two reasons:  1) you may still be numb and burn your gums   2) the hot food (especially liquids) can dissolve the blood clot and make you start to bleed again.  
Don't  'slurp' or 'suck' through a straw for 24 hours as this may dislodge your blood clot and cause a dry socket.

After extraction: It is always best to discuss these things with your own dentist. Having said that, generally normal eating in about a  week later on that site. The gums generally close over in  1-3 weeks but it takes months for the bone to fully fill in and mature.

i had a normal tooth extraction almost a week ago, the site isnt completely healed yet, but im wondering if im ok to smoke & go back to eating more foods again?

: Since it’s only a week since the extraction, it would make sense NOT to smoke as this may slow the healing process. As far as food goes it should be ok, however i would discuss it with your dentist.

so i had two root canals and one extraction done on my left side. it is my anniversary, and vacation time. do you know when it would be safe to have alcoholic drinks and regular food? of course being cautious still of how i eat or drink. thank you?

: The extraction should heal within 7 days. The teeth with the root canals are irrelevant in regards to alcohol and "regular food". If you are taking narcotic pain meds, it's a no go with drinks. Use your best judgement.
