i had a tonsillotomy 6 weeks ago for tonsil stones. i caught flu 2 weeks later, which caused an ear infection with severe pain and deafness. 3 weeks later i can't hear in 1 ear and now have tonsillitis - tonsils have grown back. no abs prescribed.

Ear/tonsil problem: Sounds like you may have developed eustachian tube dysfunction from the flu with fluid in the middle ear, but cannot be sure. You could have developed a secondary bacterial middle ear infection that antibiotics could help. In general, no antibiotics need for the flu virus. You should have had your tonsils removed completely, so that you would not continue to have problems.

wax can wash out in shower sometimes
try benedryl   if fever or pain see  ENT to eval for   otitis media

Presuming no trauma: Don't sit on this. In most cases the cause is never figured out (called idiopathic) but the known causes are serious, ranging from nerve infection, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune disorders, a mass, migraines, or vascular events like a stroke. You need imaging and immediate treatment which would be provided at the discretion of the clinician.  The rapidity &amp; unilateral presentation are concerning.

No: Loss of hearing in one ear does not make the other ear better.  Depending on the etiology, the second ear may become involved in the same process.

: If you're not satisfied, for best evaluation &amp; advice consult a neurootolaryngologist at the department of otolaryngology at a university hospital near you.  I think tinnitus can cause stress and not vice versa.

Check up: You may have to see an ENT doctor for a good examination of ears. You may have a simple problem as wax or a middle ear problem otosclerosis, or serous otitis media or may have even sensorineural deafness-- gutti rao md-internal medicine, ms.

See doc: It is concerning that you have hearing loss and also bleeding in the ear.However ,let us hope that it is just a blocked ear canal.However get seen.Some localities have a walkin ENT clinic ,if so see them or if you have one go see them.However if not see your primary care.

hi, my audioligist said i have a conductive hearing loss in one ear. 2k on up and  is 80 decibel loss. i  had this for 4 years. what can cause  this.?

Many reasons: It can be related to middle ear fluid, fixation of your hearing bones, or loss of integrity of your hearing bones. It may also be related to chronic infection. To determine the exact cause, you need to be evaluated by an otolaryngologist.
