Yes can ache.: Not only can your hearing become muffled but often there is an ache and discomfort.  Various methods of ear clearing such as yawning, swallowing, or chewing gum, may be used intentionally to open the tube and equalize pressures. When this happens, you may hear a small popping sound. This condition resolves on it's own.

: Need more information re: "eustachian tube dysfunction", but if what is meant is a blocking of hearing (like after being in a swimming pool), it is probably not coming from an inflammatory source.  See an ENT specialist in case it is secondary to "ear wax buildup".  Mineral oil can moisten hard wax and improve the wax buildup, decreasing hearing problems.
