Yes, : Yes, but unfortunately can happen. The two most common reasons are a fistula (a small hole left between the bladder and vagina) or sometimes in patients with uterine prolapse, the drop of the uterus "kinks" the urethra and when the uterus is removed incontinence the occurs, since the kinking effect is removed. That is a reason why some gynecologists will do urodynamic testing (test the muscles/tissues that keep you continent) to make sure this is not present prior to a hysterectomy. There are other possibilities to include infections, overflow incontinence, etc. I recommend you seek the help of a urogynecologist who are ob/gyn's with  three years of additional training in female incontinence problems. Depends: It depends on a lot of factors.  For example, what type of hysterectomy?  A vaginal hysterectomy is, on average, more challenging in someone who hasn't had children.  Its less of a factor with abdominal hysterectomies and laparoscopic hysterectomies.    Best wishes!

Unsure: Many omen have a retroverted uterus.  That in itself is not a reason for hysterectomy. However, there are a number of appropriate indications for hysterectomy including bleeding that doesn't respond to medical management, prolapse of the vagina or uterus, painful periods, endometriosis, etc.  Your gynecologist will be able to help you decide if your best treatment option is a hysterectomy.

i was diagnosed with simple hyperplasia without atypia. i was told my uterus measured 15 cm, would a hysterectomy be out of line. ?

More info...: Generally a hysterectomy is not needed for hyperplasia without atypia.
Medication and follow-up would be more routine.
