Opposite effect 4 u: The most common side effect of hydrocodone is that it makes you sleepy, but it sounds like you are having an idiosyncratic reaction.  Rather then making you sleepy it's having the opposite effect.  Nothing you can do but avoid it prior to going to bed.  Maybe you'd have better luck with a different pain medicine

i had an op dental procedure this morning under general anesthesia. i had a hydrocodone 10/500 at 5:30. can i take my trazodone to sleep?

Interaction: Both these medications cause sedation but if you don't take any further hydrocodone tonight, I feel taking your trazodone several hours after the hydrocodone dose shouldn't be a problem during sleep. Your pharmacist can advise you further about this matter,however.

Insomnia: The efficacy of opioids in acute pain such as post surgical pain is well established. However, adding NSAID to the mix is a standard of care. When pain is accompanied by inflammation, nsaids are more effective than opioids in managing pain.
Postoperative insomnia could be managed with hypnotic medication.
Rec.: consult with your surgeon.

? Won't help:  Steroids would better suit this condition and help the soreness, ask your doctor about it, meanwhile,  use salt water gargles and non-steroidal pain killers as ibuprofen OTC, read the labels carefully, wish you a speedy recovery

Not safe.: Using Lorazepam that is ativan  together with Hydrocodone that is norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should tell  your doctor about all other medications you use and get approval of your doctor.

my knee is hurting bad now & cant sleep. my dr gave me norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 10/325 1-2 tabs prn. i took 1 4hrs ago & did r.i.c.e treatment. can i take another one. ?
