Scrotal incision: Surgery best performed under general anesthesia ; as same day surgery procedure so ur discharged home from recovery room (pacu) after operation. Hydrocele sac under skin incised, fluid drained ; sac turned inside out ; sutured to itself behind testicle so that fluid should not re-accumulate, so called 'bottle procedure'. Scrotum closed in layers with absorbable suture. Pressure dressing applied.

Yes: Be a couch potato, use ice pack on affected side, wear tight underwear and take tylenol, (acetaminophen) Ibuprofen or stronger pain meds if prescribed. Good luck.

Will have scrotal scar which becomes almost invisible with time. Some pain, tenderness ; swelling for couple of weeks post-op. Best to have compression dressing &amp;;underwear to minimise swelling, discomfort ; pain medication after surgery.

Tissue edema: Scrotum affords virtually no compression. Lymphatics may have been divided ; thus can not drain edema or fluid that continues to form from remaining lining of hydrocele sac. Worth considering compression, e.g. Lycra, shorts

Surgery: Bottle or lord operations are performed through the scrotum. Excess hydrocele sac is excised with bottle procedure and remaining sac is everted and sutured together behind the testis. Hydrocele is incised and rolled up ; sutured  on either side of testis with lord procedure. Communicating hydroceles are corrected through the groin ; patent communication, .If present, is divided.

General anesthesia: Thus ur unconscious during surgery so you don't feel anything during the operation. Small scrotal   incision is made which is sutured with absorbable sutures. Post-operative pain should not be severe ; controlled with percocet. You can also ask surgeon to inject Lidocaine into spermatic cord ; under scrotal skin to minimize post-operative pain. Tight dressing ; rest 4 few days speeds recovery.

Pain is individual.: Usually pain after surgery is located in the scrotum unless a groin approach is in the surgery.  Activity such as walking is important post-op in moderation. Healing time is 3-6 weeks.

: Yes sometimes that happens during the healing process depending on the type of method used for surgery. specially if the sac is everted and not removed. In either case this will get better with time- another 4 weeks. If not see your Urologist. Wear a good support
