hydrocelectomy - 15 days post-op it feels like a hard testicle with a squishy fluid sac on top? is it possible the hydrocele is recurring already? would it only be on the top? is it possible this is just fluid that is unrelated and will reabsorb?

: It will take 6-8 weeks for the area to feel normal again. Yes it is possible that what you feel will reabsorb. Wear a good scrotal supprt and use local heat for a week or two. you should be OK

: The seroma is more localized and it will get smaller by time. If it gets bigger and becomes diffused, the recurrence is likely.

Probably not: The key factor in eliminating the hydrocele is obliterating the space, or potential space where fluid accumulates around the testicle.  Simply aspirating a hydrocele carries a high change of recurrence, sometimes in only a few days.  A formal hydrocelectomy obliterates this space with a very small chance of it ever coming back.

Not before puberty: Damage to spermatic cords is unlikely if surgery was performed by surgical expert, especially if s/he is pediatric urologist or surgeon. U could review the operation report to see if note made of cuting vas during surgery. Or check pathology report of hydrocele specimen if it was sent for ?portion of vas. Otherwise you would need to wait till after puberty 2C if sperm present in ejaculated semen.

Leave hospital first: Yes u can smoke, however this would be a great time to quit. You will reduce risk of developing lung cancer, copd, bronchitis and cardiovascular disease.

Hydrocele surgery: is very safe &amp; associated with minimal risks. Your urologist should certainly go over risks &amp; list them on surgical consent form. Some post-operative pain is normal &amp; treatable with pain meds. V. slight anesthetic risk. Slight risk of bleeding, infection or reaction to suture material. Scrotal swelling. Slight risk of recurrence. Best to be "couch potato" for few days after surgery to help healing
