i received the results of hpv typing and i'm positive for lr57/71, hr 56, hr 66/68. is there a cure? does it go away?

Follow doc's advice: Almost all HPV infections are cleared by the immune system, usually 1-2 yr. Viral DNA may persist with chance of later recurrence, but for practical purposes the infection is gone. More important than HPV itself is whether you have dysplasia (pre-cancer cells) of the cervix or other infected area. Even high-risk HPV rarely leads to actual cancer. Follow doc's advice about treatment and follow-up.

Continue exams: I would suggest to continue regular exams and paps.  Research is unclear whether your immune system fights and rids virus vs lays dormant.  Best approach continue with regularly scheduled exams.

Let : Let me start by saying that approximately 1/3 people carry the hpv virus. Most of those people don't have signs or symptoms and may never know. There are 100's of types of hpv, the most dengerous causing cervical cancer in women; there are other types which cause genital warts. The cancer risk in men in much lower than women; the types that most commonly affect men are rectal and throat. 
We can safely assume based on history your partner is a carrier of the hpv virus, fortunately for her she has had 3 normal paps and therefore showing no cervical changes. 
To answer your question, hpv can be passed by oral sex and even genital to genital contact. In order to fully protect yourself a condom should be used with all sexual activity (oral and vaginal) from start to finish.

Here are some ...: Any life event always displays itself at a certain spot on its course or pattern of full spectrum to reflect the host's coping ability; likewise, HPV infection does by showing no symptoms at all to full-blown cauliflower-like lesion, but not with "dermatitis" except catching superimposed skin infection by yeasts - candida, or bacteria - staph or strept, but rarely.

: The vaccine does not treat or prevent emergence of any HPV infection you have acquired in the past, If the wart strains have not emerged after 3 months you likely were not exposed.

No cure: There is immunization for HPV, but no cure - yet. In most individuals, the body's immune system seems to neutralize the virus over an up to  2 year time period. HPV infections don't cause symptoms, unless an individuals' body is unable to fight the virus and decade down the road ends up with cancer of the cervix or the throat. A swab from the throat is technically possible.

Invisible: Hpv subtypes 16 and 18 are not known for causing genital warts, so it is unlike you will see anything on an male infected with these viral strains.

Strains don't change: Strains of HPV do not change any more than you would change into another person. If they pass to another person as an infection they remain the same. If your partner acquired type 16 &amp; you don't have it they got it from another source. People do not always pass it to their partner if the initial infectious phase has cleared.( usually within 2 yrs)
