Tubes to Tango: Unfortunately, a tubal ligation or "tube tying" is a permanent means of sterilization for a woman.  When done properly the fallopian tube is cut, the ends are individually tied off and the tips are cauterized (burned) shut.  All of this is designed to scar both ends of the tube and prevent sperm from ever reaching an ovulated egg.  You would never know if they "untied" as this is not possible.

Nearly Impossible: Unfortunately, as you were taught at the time of your surgery, your tubes are not just tied. They were cut, the ends of the tubes were burned and scarred and the tubes them selves were tied repeatedly in a fashion to cause scarring.  It is highly unlikely that tubes can be restored after this type of permanent procedure. And, your insurance company will most likely not cover such surgery.
