Nothing is 100%: but plan B within 24 hrs lowers pregnancy at least 90% lower. THere isn't good data on safety of Ella after plan B, BUT since the hormones are unlikley to stay around 40 hrs, the worst expected would be longer and slightly more severe symptoms you've already got. If currently none, there might be some. These are safe drugs.

Fine but...: It is fine to use emergency contraception while using a paragard iud. The only issue is that it is not necessary. Paragard iuds are very effective. It is not necesssary to take emergency contraception when you have an iud. You are already protected.

: What you poop anytime today is what you consumed 2-3 days ago. The pill is absorbed in the first 3 hours in your upper digestive tract. If you took it in the proper time interval after sex, it will work as well it it can otherwise.

: Oral contraceptives work by changing your baseline hormone level. Since you are in the first month, this is the most critical time. Taking the Sprintec daily will allow you to achieve the new hormone level that will keep you from getting pregnant. Ella also contains hormones, but in one high dose delivery system. It will prevent you from getting pregnant this time, but you still need the sprintec.

: " Ella" is a synthetic progestin derivative, and works for contraception by making the endometrial lining of the uterus not receptive to the fertilized egg.  It is far from 100% effective for contraception, so if your menses are delayed, wait until 7-10 days after the expected onset of menses, and get a serum HCG test to by certain.  Bleeding after "Ella" is common.

Maybe. Maybe not.: Emergency contraception pills can alter the menstrual for the cycle in which they were taken, and sometimes the next cycle too. One should be sure to check a home pregnancy test about 3 weeks after sex, because emergency contraception pills work most of the time, but not all the time. Also, be sure to consider a reliable form of birth control, so that one will never need emergency pills again.
