Leg edema: Anyone who treats lymphedema and most who treat varicose veins and venous insufficiency will know how to wrap properly.  It is important to remember that the most effective wrapping is not done with ace bandages.  They are too stretchy.  Wraps should not have much elastic in them at all.  There are also non-elastic compression devices, like circaid and others, that are also very effectively.

Not Really....: Wrapping yourself in Saran wrap isn't the best ideal to lose weight.  The occlusion of the skin increases temperature, causes more sweating and forces you to lose water weight.  The problem is you have to replace the fluids from the sweating, so it has a 0 net effect.  You are better off at the gym exercising at your elevated zone for 30+ minutes and watching your diet.

No: Although the scenario sounds scary, it is actually fairly common to find a "nuchal cord, " an umbilical cord wrapped around the neck, as well as a shoulder, or even leg. The umbilical cord is designed to handle tightening and stretching, because it contains a gelatinous substance within the cord called "wharton's jelly" -- a natural shock absorber!
