Get tablets: If you are having trouble  weaning off 25 mg zoloft, (sertraline) you may be a slow metabolizer.  Check with your  doctor.  Otherwise, skip a capsule  every 5 days for 2 wks, then every 4 days for 2 wks, then every 3 days, then  every other day for 2 wks etc then one cap every 3days for 2 wks, every 4 days for  2 wks, then stop.

Taper Zoloft (sertraline): Generally, a taper over months with 2-6 weeks between steps is recommended. Yours is a very low dose (25mg). At that dose, it should be possible to just stop it. Start Lexapro (escitalopram): While still on the zoloft . I usually have someone start  on a small dose of the Lexapro (escitalopram) and increase it gradually while at the same time, taper down even more slowly  on the zoloft. Each new antidepressant essentially has to start over again and needs time to work. Therefore you don't want to go off the zoloft too quickly, you may find out it had been doing much more for you than you had thought.

Consult your doc: Please consult with the doctor who prescribed this medication. Exercise may obviate the need to take the medication.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine, if you are under 27 years of age.

Low dose: Please d/w your prescribing provider. 25 mg of zoloft (sertraline)  is a starter dose and usually  can just be  stopped.

Having said that, the generalized answer to your question is that nearly any medication is better tapered than stopped abruptly.

I don't want to take: The place of your physician. Your physician knows how long you have been on zoloft (sertraline). So follow his or her advice. There is more than one way to wean off of zoloft (sertraline) and taking the medication every other day is one of them.  Taking 25mg per day is another way it can be tapered.
