1 week: Application of gentian violet for a week should do a job if you can bear with some messiness.    I have noticed that other oral lesions have been mistaken as thrush by general public.

Azole cream better: Gentian violet is an old fashioned, messy, and not very effective treatment for vaginal yeast (thrush) infections. If not professionally diagnosed, see a doctor. If you've had yeast before and symptoms are typical, try an over-the-counter yeast cream; look for active ingredient ending in "azole" (miconazole, teraconazole, etc). Any of these will be more effective and faster than gentian violet.

See a doctor: You also asked about gential violet for vaginal yeast infection. See my reply to that question. Oral thrush is uncommon in otherwise healthy persons. "Painless white stuff" usually isn't yeast (thrush), just a garden variety "coated tongue", which can occur with colds and any number of minor health issues. Don't use GV, which isn't recommended for oral treatment. See a doctor for both problems.

Gentian violet: I am not familiar with the use of Gentian violet as a hair dye.  It is commonly used as an antiseptic.  Test a small amount on your skin first to see if you are sensitive to it - redness, swelling, pus are signs of an allergic reaction or infection.  Avoid placing on scalp at site of any open wounds.  Better to use plant based hair dyes (no ammonia), generally considered safe.

Use modern medicines: Primary care doctors, allergists, and dermatologists have many modern eczema treatments that are safe and effective. Trying magenta dyes on one's skin is not a good idea.

No: Neither of these should be applied to a wound. Details matter. What kind of wound? Where? How deep? Caused by what? Clean or contaminated? Most wounds do best by washing with water, then keeping lubricated.

See answer: Gentian violet is an antiseptic dye used to treat vaginal yeast infections. Some people are overly sensitive to it and develop redness, swelling, pain, and sometimes bleeding. The urethra is especially sensitive to gentian violet. If your symptoms do not improve or worsen over next 24hrs, you should contact your treating md.

No: No, topical medications have low success rates.  However they are cheap with little risks.  For someone with liver disease, you may want to try laser treatment (fyi I do not have any financial relationships with these treatments).  Lasers studies have show success with effective treatment and sometimes cure rates but they are very expensive and no insurance company cover them.  I hope this helps!
