my wife is pregnant and has (what we think) to be a stye on her eyelid. had it since yesterday (31/12/2017). how can we treat this?

Heat: Styes are best treated by application of a wash cloth soaked in very warm, not hot , tap water applied over the closed lid at least 4-5 times per day.  This will rapidly clear almost all styes.  "Stye" treatments at the drug store are useless.

Warm compresses: may help, but if no improvement you need to be seen for prescription meds, topical / systemic antibiotics, good luck

hi. i have a stye developing on my left eyelid but i wear contacts daily. is it ok to continue to wear them if i treat the stye with warm compress?

Not a problem: The warm compresses, applied frequently are likely to get rid of the stye and will not interfere with the contact lens wear.

Several days: With diligent moderately hot compresses to stye f/b gentle massage of the stye will typically resolve it after 7-10 days. There will be redness; superficial changes in shin where the stye was for up to a few weeks. As long as the stye has reasonably regressed over this period without pain anymore, you generally will do fine. Sometes the stye has to be lanced, particularly if increased. No Arnica.

Stye: Probably a stye. Apply moist heat with a cloth and that should bring it to a head and discharge and then heal. Good Luck

Could be a stye,: With a pigment area of the skin not related to the swelling. Use moist heat compresses at least 4 times a day for 10 minutes at a time. Do this until it gets better. A great idea to have this examined by an ophthalmologist.

Warm compresses: Put clean, wet, warm compresses on your eyelid to help treat the stye. The stye is caused my an inflammation in the hair follicle of the eyelid. Antibiotics are usually not needed. Keep your hands away from your eyes- don't rub your eyes! call your doctor if it does not get better.

: I’m general, acute painful styes are treated with Hot compresses applied to the eye 3-4 times per day. Consider telemedicine evaluation to confirm the diagnosis though.

Local heat: The best treatment at this stage is to put a wash cloth in the very warm, but not hot stream of water from your faucet, wring it out a little and lay it over the eye with the inflamed lid.  You must do this diligently: five minutes at a time and about five times per day.  This will usually get rid of the early stye in several days.

Warm compress: I tell my patients to get a damp wash cloth and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds.   Test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot.   Place warm compress the closed eyelid for about5-10 minutes and re-heating as necessary.
