after 12hrs of migraine headaches, i lost 6% of weight from sweating, vomitting, diarrhea. current meds incl anastrozole, colchicine, ibuprofen, pantoprazole, frovatriptan. now i have left flank pain. kidney injury? how much/fast should i rehydrate?

: As fast as you can tolerate. Add some salt to the water you drink. You may use electrolyte drinks or Gatorade. You could also take fruit juice, or a combination of all these.

Different Rxs:: It depends on the frequency and duration of the migraine:  for chronic recurring or frequent migraines ( not menstrual) I would suggest you discuss the use of prophylactic beta blockade medication and the use of NSAIDS ( Advil/Aleve )- this is a very basic approach. More sophisticated medicines are often used under a physician's supervision.

What clues?: What are the reasons for your theory? What is the neurologist's response? Note that it is common for migraine to be mistaken for sinus pain resulting in ineffective therapy.

Various ways: Some respond just to rest in a quiet place, other also with addition of ice to the head in various spots, some with pressure applied to the temples, gently to closed eyes, or to several spots in this back of the neck or head. Some to gentle pulling of the hair.  Others need medication.  Taking 3 excedrine when you know you are getting the migraine might abort it.  Others need tryptans.

Everyone different: To stop headaches, most doctors would recommend triptans (such as frova, relpax, (eletriptan) maxalt, zomig, etc.), but ergotamines are also of value.  Maybe best to prevent and could use botox, depakote, topirimate, beta-blockers, but also might consider otc items such as butterbur, riboflavin, coq-10, feverfew, magnesium.

Aura management: I would imagine that treating the migraine headaches would result in diminishing visual distortions.

Based on your: concerns you've gone this route with the caffeine (excedrin) before. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) plus Ibuprofen may get you to sleep. How you feel in the morning depends on how you react to the most anticholinergic substance known to man. Perhaps you should try another approach to the headaches (see a doctor)

i took excedrin migraine at 5 am this morning. then i was out all day ,came home around 6pm w/a headache and took 600mg ibuprofen. is that ok?

Dosage: Yes. You are within dosage guidelines for both drugs. Read the labels carefully. Excedrin Migraine has Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Caffeine in it.

No: You should not not take more than 2 tabs in 24 hours, unless directed by a physician. I can not suggest taking any more of this drug or any other drug of this nature until 24 hours has passed. If however you are feeling extreme pain please go to a clinic for an exam.
