i have been on various opiates for over three months. does it cause pain if i stop?

Not necessarily: Opioids are best used for short duration and stopping them does not necessarily cause pain.  Discuss with your doctor regarding using other drugs.

Possibly: Your best course of action is to be honest with your doctor on your opiate intake.  From there, your doctor can start tapering your dose of medicine so you have a lesser chance of going thru withdrawal.  Do not stop 'cold turkey' as you may possibly precipitate narcotic withdrawal.

Suboxone: Cravings which occur after withdrawal can be severe and lead to relapse.  If the causes of the addiction have been addressed (anxiety and depression have been treated), then Suboxone is a good answer.  It is a type of opiate that stops cravings but does not cause euphoria and is usually not abused.  It is intended for the long term treatment of addiction and specifically to stop opiate craving.

Probably not: That is not that large a dose of opiates.  It also depends on which opiates.  If it was just percocet, probably not a problem.  But, if it was 60 mg of oxycontin, that could be an issue.  The type of narcotic and dose is very important.  I would talk to your doctor about exactly which one you were taking and its properties.

Yes.: Yes however, but you need to see a doctor who was trained for just that type of treatment because it has to be supervised.

Difficult to say: It depends on what substance you were abusing, how well you change your social network, support resources available and your motivation. Recent studies suggest that some may never be able to completely stop the treatment. Never the less, each case is unique. Try to find a treatment program that works for you. Suboxone treatment is incredible if you work with it and well worth the effort!

Buprenorphine helps: Opiate addiction may be treated quite effectively with the combination of Buprenorphine (suboxone) and psychosocial support.  The longer the treatment lasts, the more likely recovery is sustained.  Mutual support helps; consider attending a meeting of narcotics anonymous.

how do i stop from being constipated from my prescription opiates? what can i do to help  the constipation?

Start laxatives: One may become tolerant to the constipating effects of opioids with time but this is a major issue that needs to be addressed. Discuss with the prescribing doctor. One can try senakots at bedtime or myrilax.
