Possible: It is possible but nothing to worry about.  Time your contractions.  If you feel they are becoming stronger and more frequent, then contact your ob. If you are ever unsure about something it is always best to get in touch with your ob.  Good luck!

Walking may help: If you are not in active labor by 39 weeks and your cervix is starting to get ripe i would offer you induction of labor the ideal time to deliver is 39 -40 weeks that is the time when the baby has the least chance of complications according to a large study, you can go in the evening before for cervadil to help ripen the cervix and then the next am cervadil out start pitocin, (oxytocin) arom works every time.

Contractions?: Sounds like you need to call your OB physician -- you have not said how frequent your contractions are, but you could be starting labor.  Best wishes in your delivery, and becoming a mom.

Not a good idea...: Most Obs won't induce labor until at least 39 weeks.  This is because babies do best when they are allowed to mature in utero.  Even at 38 weeks an occasional baby is born that needs to be in the NICU due to breathing difficulties.  If you want to go into labor, I would discuss this with you Ob.  There are a lot of ideas on the internet about how to start contractions but some can be harmful.

Difficult to predict: It could be any day, but some women have cervical change consistent with what you describe for days or even weeks before delivery.  At this stage of pregnancy, every day that you remain pregnant is better for the baby.  Although considered full term at 38 weeks, babies delivered at 39-40 weeks have been found to have fewer health problems.  When contractions get painful, go to hospital.  Good luck

Time contractions: You need to start timing your contractions and contact your OB MD when the contractions reach an interval of 5 minutes apart or less consistently or the interval that your OB MD has designated in your instructions. Labor and delivery are coming soon to your pregnancy.

FALSE LABOR: This is not true labor but false labor and that can happen.You just have to wait till contractions become more strong and more frequent and tru labor and cervix will dilate as well.Just have to wait and hang in there till it happens.

Labor begins!: The process of labor begins slowly and builds up over time. Uterine contractions are initially disorganized and mild are are usually not noticed. As you get closer to the time of delivery, the contractions become better organized and stronger.

im 38 weeks and 1 day, i have braxton hicks contractions, is there a chance i might have to be induced?

Early to say: Braxton hicks contraction are the normal warming up the uterus does close to due date. I wouldn't worry about an induction unless you go past your due date. I look at inductions as a way ob's get a kid who's ripe to deliver during predictable hours & some will consider the process from 39 wks on.
