Don't smoke period: Are you talking about inhaling a burning substance, or cooking it in a smoker like "smoked salmon" ;-) ? Any kind of smoke that is inhaled into your lungs can be expected to be harmful. Don't smoke anything!

Stop smoking: Stopping smoking will probably help your blood pressure.  If you continue to have high blood pressure, see a doctor, who can start antihypertensive medications.

No: Smoking has been strongly linked to heart disease, lung disease and many types of cancers.  Second hand smoke exposure also causes significant illness, particularly in children. No it is never “ok” to smoke, if you currently smoke, there are many resources to help you quit. The american lung association is a great place for more information.

E Hookahs: I had to look up what an ehookah is.  It is an electronic cigarette or pipe that uses high temperature rather than combustion to vaporize tobacco and other substances.  While it is true that there is less tar and carbon monoxide and other combustion products, i'm not sure that even the vaporization of other substances is healthy.  Particulate matter in vapor can cause damage to lungs too.

Cessation program: There are formal programs to help you quit, and attending one will improve your chances for success.  1-800-quitnow or your local heart or lung association office, or dept of public health, probably has programs for you. Nicotine replacement therapy (patches, lozenges, gum) can help, as can medications like Chantix and zyban (bupropion). Preparations like cleaning house/car from smoke also help. Good luck.

Substitute: Substitute other actions: a sharp intake of breath, as though inhaling but without smoke. Chew a piece of gum or crush a mint. Take deep breaths and calm yourself. Wait until the urge passes. Maybe walk by a stuffed ashtray and congratulate yourself that you are no longer tied to this habit. Calm and positivity are key.

NO: It is not healthy to smoke anytime.  I am not a believer in the physical advantages of fasting, and none have been medically proven.  Our bodies do not need "detoxification, " and we do not accumulate poisons that you can get our through fasting, enemas or any other techniques. Fasting may have spiritual benefits, but also have potential bad effects with dehydration, metabolic problems, low vitamin.

No magic number: but an old statistic which I think holds is that if an individual smokes 7 or more cigarettes, they have a 90% chance of becoming dependent and a chronic smoker. There are rare individuals who really do smoke "socially," having 1-2 cigarettes at special occasions a few times a year, without developing dependence, but they are few and far between.

Then don't: You have to decide what part of you is in charge - the adult who wants to live a healthier and longer life, and not make yourself prematurely sick with the myriad of illnesses (cancer, emphysema, heart attack, stroke, cancer etc etc etc), or the person who is a slave to their bad appetites. Join a smoking cessation program, where you can get mutual support from other people in the same position.
