No: Usually a skipped period is from a hormonal problem. Fibroids generally cause excess bleeding, pain, or pelvic pressure. But they should not affect your hormonal cycle.

Skip Placebos: TriSprintec (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol) has 21 active pills followed by 7 placebo pills.  If you want to skip one period, take the 21 active pills as always.  Then on day 22, start a new pack of triSprintec (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol) and take it normally instead of taking the placebos .  You might have some breakthrough bleeding at some point but it will likely be after your honeymoon is over.   You are still protected from pregnancy.  Best wishes!

Yes: Talk to your gynecologist about this.  You can take two months of active birth control pills in a row.  Resuming active pills should be a week later, not two.

There are many ways to manipulate your period with birth control pills.

Breakthrough bleed : Breakthrough bleeding is common but not normal therefore there is no normal time for it to last. When you skip pills you trigger bleeding. The birth control pills will regulate eventually. Consider another birth control method if remembering to take your pill is hard. If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy.

i was supposed to be on sugar pills but wanted to skip period. missed one day and a half. took two pills will it be ok? will i still get my period?

Hard to know: Some women can be a day or two late on the birth control pills and not bleed at all, others will have break through bleeding - usually in the form of spotting.  Most women who skip the placebo pills and go right to more active pills don't get a period.  There is a good chance you won't bleed at all or won't bleed much.

i take aviane continuously for 3 packs to skip period. i always spot in pack 3. is there anyway to decrease spotting so i can get through 3rd pack?

Aviane: I would take the fourth week in this cycle and let yourself have a period then go back to skipping that week and taking it continuously next pack.  That should eliminate breakthrough spotting.

Day 1: Starting day 1 will give less chance of spotting. If you are trying to skip period, take your pack until pills change color, skips ones are the end and go directly to next pack.

Affects ovulation: To the degree that Plan B interferes with ovulation it may affect the period, which normally occurs 2 weeks after ovulation.  Taken during your period its effect will be minimal.  Practically speaking, i see minimal effects on periods from plan b.

Eventually: Missing pills will cause breath thru bleeding. If you miss a pill you should take it as soon as you remember and if you miss2 take 2 each of the next 2 days. If you miss more, throw the pack away and start a new one the next Sun. Use a back up method (condoms) until the 3rd week of the package at least If this happens often consider a long acting method such as implants, IUDs, or even Depo-Provera

i take the active pills only then go to next pack to skip period. what do i do if miss 3 days of birth control?

Use a backup BC: The pills work by keeping a steady amount of hormone in your blood that prevents you from releasing eggs when due. If you skip 3 days and that hormone level drops, your body can decide to release an egg &amp; that makes you at risk of conception during that interval. If you use  backup BC like condoms for a week or two you should be fine.
