Exam: It would be wiser to get an exam to rule out herpes and other problems. Folliculitis is better treated in that area with some 2% Erythromycin pads. See your OB/GYN if you have other symptoms.

See OB: Studies show that some of the most common reasons for such a lesion/growth are from HPV related benign lesions. However, a full history, exam, and possibly a biopsy are indicated. See your OB. Good luck.

Folliculitis: Inflammation of the hair follicle occurs for many reasons, sometimes associated with shaving  and caused by a dull razor, sensitivity to the shaving product or friction by clothing.  Avoid squeezing as this can damage tissue and spread infection. Gentle cleansing with washcloth and soap is generally recommended, with doctor visit if not improving.

Exactly where?: It's common to have a few infected hairs around the vulva even if your personal hygiene is the best. These require no treatment. If this does not appear to be the problem, the more worrisome entities of hidradenitis and vulvar vestibular adenitis would need to be diagnosed on physical exam. Yes, folliculitis: The red-base/white head zits are basically trapped/inflammed hair follicles=tiny infections. Thus, whereever there is a hair follicle (basically everywhere besides palms/soles), there is a potential for this to occur, including the vaginal/groin areas. This is quite common with shaving these days. So, if you have much trouble with these, and if u r shaving--should stop, consult doc. Good luck.

Examination: This can be a number of differnt issues ranging from infection , abscess, skin tags  or std. I recommned a full pelic and rectal exmation, safe sex, in fact, abstain sexually until you have been screened for all stds.
Do not ignore this issue and get a full gyn evaluation.
