Family history? : Colon polyps are very common and most are benign.  When they are still very small, there is no way to predict for sure which ones may become cancerous, hence they are usually removed at fhe time of screening colonoscopy and submitted for pathology examination.  Individuals with hx of familial polyposis with predisposition to cancer may elect prophylactic colectomy

Not sure of your : Question but a precancerous polyp regardless of the location in the colon is concern for futue polyp/cancer development especially if high grade dysplasia was present. Follow your surgeon's or GI doctors advice on follow up colonoscopy, but i usually recommend a colonoscopy 1 year after surgery.

Get scoped: It's wise for any older adult to get colonoscopy occasionally, since colon cancer usually starts in polyps that sit around for years before turning malignant. A little Aspirin each day may be helpful. If you have lynch's syndrome, get 'scoped yearly at lesat. There's much less real evidence that a high-fiber, low-meat diet is helpful.

Vegaration diet: Vegetables, nuts, grains and fiber without red meat is the best diet to reduce the risk of colon cancer. Hunzicuts (in tibet) eat lots of apricots and almonds, and they have the lowest cancer rate in the world (but they also have no stress, no caffeine, no wine, no smoking etc). Non-processed, natural foods give you the best overall health. Go vegetarians!

Colon : Eat a healthy diet, fiber and Get regular check ups as recommended. Colonoscopies and polyp removal if needed. A healthy diet is the best way to prevent cancers of all types.
