Ginger ale: I haven't heard of using 7 up. But, gingerale actually contains some ginger. Ginger has been used for thousands of years as a tonic by the chinese to soothe the stomach and reduce nausea. Sipping on slightly flattened gingerale can help due to the effects of ginger.

Family practice. : Your child needs to be seen. It could be a virus but other causes need to be ruled out. Appendicitis for one.

Back Pain: Back pain is very common. Lying on your stomach relieving your pain essentially eliminates arthritis of the facet joints and stress fractures as the source. Coming and going is a good sign. Recommend a neutral spine core stabilization program with "mcgill" exercises. There are videos on youtube.

Many possibilities: Many possibilities, including  subluxation of rib, upper abdominal malignancy, spine disease affecting nerve to that area.  Consult a physician.

See your doctor: Your symptoms are very nonspecific, so no one can give a definitive answer from them.  Your best bet would be to see your doctor, who can take a complete history, do a physical exam and maybe get some tests done to start the workup, then start the treatment.

A physician will take a thorough history, perform a physical examination and order appropriate tests in order to make a differential diagnosis and advise you. If you have severe abdominal discomfort with associated tenderness, proceed to the emergency room where prompt evaluation and testing are available.

Gastritis: It sounds like you have gastritis an inflammation of the stomach lining.  There are several things you can do to help with this. Add a daily probiotic. Remove irritating foods from your diet like dairy, red meat, citrus and nightshades (peppers, tomatoes, potatoes). Avoid caffeine, alcohol and tobacco. Drink 80 oz water daily. Try an antacid for a few days. I hope you are better soon.
