Not necessarily : Gr8 ?. Sometimes, we fall into our normal weight range, but want to lose a couple of pounds for the bathing suit season, or to fit better into a particular outfit.  The concern is when we as physicians see symptoms of an eating disorder - concerns of body image, binging, self-induced vomiting, perfectionism, and the like.  Reach out to your doctor to discuss where you should weigh for your height.

Teen age weight: The best way to loose weight is with control of diet and exercise.  For most teens the fastest way to do this is to cut out sugary beverages from their diet (soda, juice, coffee drinks, gatorade, etc).  From one 12oz sugary drink each day in addition to all the regular foods a person will gain almost 20lbs per year! cut that out and fast weight loss.  Healthy weight loss is 1-2lbs/week.

Diet and exercise: The best way that i know of is to look at what you are eating first. Teens and young adults often have diets that are low on nutrition and high on calories. Less junk food and more whole food. After that making sure there is a regular opportunity for exercise. This does not have to be boring. Different sports or gym activities are best. Find something that you enjoy doing otherwise it is boring.
