Hard to say: This is above normal. If you have ovarian cancer and it was normal, you could have recurrence.
If you do not have ovarian ca, this needs to be investigated with exam, ultrasound and other studies. This test can be non-specific if you have no ovarian finding.

CA-125: Cancer antigen 125 (ca-125) is a protein found on the surface of many ovarian cancer cells. It also can be found in other cancers and in small amounts in normal tissue. A ca-125 test measures the amount of this protein in the blood and can be used as a tumor marker.

Screening? No: Ca 125 is not a screening test. It can be elevated for reasons other than cancer. It should be used for follow up of certain cancers ie ovarian cancer. Even then, it is done periodically as part of surveillance strategy. Also used to help the clinician decide if a patient who is on chemotherapy is responding or not &  some oncologists obtain them per 'cycle' of chemotherapy i.e. Every 3-4 wks.

CA-125: This marker is elevated significantly at this value. It's greatest specificity for ovarian cancer is in post-menopausal women, but a variety of things that irritate the lining of the abdomen and even chest, can elevate it mildly. So things like appendicitis, endometriosis, and even diverticulosis can also result in high levels. But, getting checked out for what is behind this is a good idea.

Yes and No: Ca-125 is a test for follow-up after  diagnosis and with the treatment of ovarian cancer. It is elevated in many other diseases.The test should not be used for a fishing expedition because it would be misleading and concerning for a patient like you. Why was the test done in the first place? Do you have cancer? In any case a 25 level could be normal? What was the normal range.In the lab?

Not a diagnostic: Marker for cancer.  Ca 125 is not a good test for making a diagnois of cancer.  It is more useful for monitoring the course of a cancer associated with elevated ca 125 levels.

Not always.: If this test is high, it could mean endometrial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer and gastrointestinal cancer.  This can also indicate benign conditions, like endometriosis, other ovary disorders, and pregnancy, as well as any inflammatory condition in the abdiminal area.  This is a big reason why it is used with other tests in evaluation and to follow treatment response.

Yes: Depending on the lab, a normal ca-125 is typically below 35 or so.  Check with your doctor to find out what your particular lab normals are.
