i have has a burning/ sore throat chest on and off for a while now. doctor recently had me on penicillin vk for  bronchitis. acid reflux maybe?

For sure: Yes, by all means. At your age, you should be evaluated for a Barrett's esophagus, especially if anyone in your family ever had esophageal cancer.

Antacids: Gastric reflux is helped by taking an antacid at bed time. Try eat supper 3 hours before you go to bed. Prevacid or Zantac (ranitidine) at night will also help.Both are over tne counter meds. If all of this does not help you may need gastroscopy to rule out esophagus or stomach abnormalities.

Sore throat /reflux: Avoid alcohol, citrus /acid foods, caffeine, motrin like products , fatty foods as they can worsen reflux. Consider  famotadine / omeprazole  for treatment . But would follow up with  GI ( gastroenterology) for evaluation to  make sure  nothing else is going on like food allergies-especially dairy or eosinophilic esophagitis, and ENT as  may be post nasal drip as well  or other oral  pathology

Medical, surgical tx: If the sore throat is from GERD, try PPI first if not succesful you may need surgical anti reflux op like nissen's fundoplication

Acid reflux: Many causes, including large meals, eating prior to going to bed, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, spicy foods.  Talk to your doctor about your specific symptoms to be sure of the diagnosis.

"Silent reflux": You don't have to have heartburn or the sense of stuff coming up to have "reflux". Most people with reflux don't have heartburn. The only symptom may be hoarseness, asthma, swallowing difficulty or the feeling like your throat will close. There is a muscle in the lower neck that encircles the upper food tube that hates stomach juice and acid. When it comes into contact with it it spasms.

Options: Three days of sore throat could mean strep A, mono, or just be the reflux.  The reflux can benefit if you avoid caffeine/nicotine/ laying down after meals and take antacid tablets. If you have any fever with this consider having your doc evaluate it.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Acid reflux is a possible explanation. It could be allergy. It would be prudent to see a doctor.
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
