Sea buckthorn: Sea buckthorn berries or seed oil can be used topically on the skin for sunscreen; for treating radiation damage from x-rays and sunburns; healing wounds like bedsores, burns, and cuts; for acne, dermatitis, dry skin, eczema, skin ulcers, postpartum pigmentation, etc.  It contains fruit acids, flavonoids, carotenoids, and fatty oils.  I could find no actual research data for acne, though.

Scientific Rx: If benzoyl peroxide, available over the counter, has not worked after two weeks, your physician has medicines such as topical Clindamycin and retinoic acid derivatives that can usually clear you. If it is more severe, there's stronger rx. Good luck.

Leave them alone: Simple avoidance of further picking will allow excoriations to do what they are trying to do:  heal.  Although i will admit that stopping the practice is not easy.  I tell patients to apply plain vaseline when you feel the urge to pick.  That way you are still doing something, just not something traumatic to the skin.

Don't Touch: Pimples occur when glands in our skin get blocked and what they secrete collects and causes pressure. The immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body increasing the blood flow to the injury to bring healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. Gentle cleansing and avoid picking/squeezing lets nature take its course.

Depends: The duration of healing depends on how the surgery was performed. If the scars will be removed and sutured closed, you should be fairly well healed within two weeks.

Tincture of time: Nothing you can do will cause an acne scab to heal faster. The new blood vessels have to take time to grow in and lay down new fibers to restore the injured area. Try to leave it alone and keep it clean.

It won't: Whoever recommended this to you is misinformed. A hydroquinone bleach topically may help but i'd urge you not to use it -- you can make things worse. The pigment spots will fade on their own. I'm sorry your acne wasn't managed well, and hope it's now under control.

Retin-a: Oily skin is difficult to treat.  Using Alpha hydroxy cleansers and lotions help as well as Retin-A which can be intensely drying for most.  Other treatments we have used are the amino levulonic acid and the skin rejuvenation laser to help with this but this is on the aggressive side.

See below: It is possible that you have a cyst, acne scarring, abscess, or another type of skin problem.  If the bump grows, does not show signs of resolving, bleeds, or exhibits new symptoms... See a dermatologist for evaluation & suggested treatments.  In the interim, do not pick or manipulate the bump.

Very bad idea: Hydrocortisone will relieve inflammation but greatly slow healing and encourage overgrowth of the bacteria that will cause the next outbreak.
